1.
I enjoy reading the story "Mr. know all" by W.Somerset Maugham for
one main aspect. The story reflects our reality which deals with prejudice, hasty judgments and stereotypes. This story
shows that first impressions and appearances are often misleading and
deceptive. The story proves us that we should make some little changes in our
society.
I found interest in the story because of the strong message which is conveyed
through the story. The moral says that we must not judge a person by his looks,
color or origin or generalize according to our own prejudices.
2.
What I found surprising about the story, is that although Mr.Kelada proved the narrator the he is the exact opposite of what he had thought of him, the narrator still could not defeat his racism against Mr. Kalada. Instead of changing completely his point of view about Mr. Kelada, he just said that he did not dislike entirely Mr. Kelada.

3. Learning about the thinking
skill influenced my understanding of the story by helping me understand the
characters of the story more deeply.
The thinking skill Explaining Patterns helps me understand the
story from Mr. Kelada's pattern of behavior, which was like a know-all and
always right, it makes me appreciate the great effort he had to make to admit
he was wrong.
The thinking skill
Uncovering Motives helps me understand that Mr. Kelada's motive was to protect
Mrs. Ramsay in order to keep her marriage and that is why he did not reveal her
secret.
