POST READING- MR KNOW ALL

"In the end, it turned out that the real pearl was Mr.Kelada."
Cultured pearls which  are created or made by people, are not natural or genuine as real pearls are. Cultured
pearls,
compared to real pearls, look beautiful but are mass produced and not unique.

Max Kelada is presented as a typical Levantine in the beginning. He is informal, loud, dogmatic and a know all. However, at the end Mr. Kelada behaved like a gentleman. We find out that Mr. Kelada is actually a pragmatic
person.

Thus, in the beginning Mr.Kelada is presented as a shell, a metaphor for a person who is hard to like. However, in
the end, due to the good deed that Mr. Kelada had done for Mrs. Ramsay, the narrator suddenly noticed the nature and pure soul of him.
Meaning, he saw in front of his eyes the shell opened, and inside a shiny pearl.
Mr. Kelada is the "real pearl" in the story.

REFLECTION- MR.KNOW ALL

1.
I enjoy reading the story "Mr. know all" by W.Somerset Maugham for one main aspect. The story reflects our reality which deals with prejudice, hasty judgments and stereotypes.  This story shows that first impressions and appearances are often misleading and deceptive. The story proves us that we should make some little changes in our society.
I found interest in the story because of the strong message which is conveyed through the story. The moral says that we must not judge a person by his looks, color or origin or generalize according to our own prejudices.

2.
What I found surprising about the story, is that although Mr.Kelada proved the narrator the he is the exact opposite of what he had thought of him, the narrator still could not defeat his racism against Mr. Kalada. Instead of
changing completely his point of view about Mr. Kelada, he just said that he did not dislike entirely Mr. Kelada.

3. Learning about the thinking skill influenced my understanding of the story by helping me understand the characters of the story more deeply.
The thinking skill Explaining Patterns helps me understand the story from Mr. Kelada's pattern of behavior, which was like a know-all and always right, it makes me appreciate the great effort he had to make to admit he was wrong.
The thinking skill Uncovering Motives helps me understand that Mr. Kelada's motive was to protect Mrs. Ramsay in order to keep her marriage and that is why he did not reveal her secret.

Mr Know All

The story "Mr. know all" by W.Somerset Maugham describes two main characters who meet on a ship sailing across the Pacific Ocean from San Francisco to Yokohama. One is a rich merchant of Oriental origin, who holds a British passport and named Mr. Kelada. The other is his cabin-mate, a British citizen who is the nameless narrator of the story.
Mr. Kelada is described as a short guy and of a sturdy build, a clean shaven guy with a dark skin. He has a hooked, large nose, lustrous and liquid eyes. He has a long black hair which is sleek and curly. In addition, Mr. Kelada is a chatty guy who wants everybody on board to hear his voice. He is a dogmatic person, he doesn't like when people tell him what to do or whether he is right or not. He tries to convince everybody on board that he is right and knows everything better than anyone else. He is arrogant and pushy. Undoubtly, showing off and presenting his knowledge is one of his prominent features.

On the contrary, the narrator is a typical upper-class Englishman. He is a prejudiced and conservative person, who judges people on their appearances, and where they were born. If someone is not a British person, meaning not in the same category
as the narrator belongs to, he is not tolerant of at all. Throughout the story the narrator is presented as a critic person.

To conclude, both characters are very different and represent two opposite worlds. I prefer Mr. kelada over the narrator for several reasons. First, it's difficult for me as a liberal person to get along with conservative people because of all the differences. Furthermore, I oppose judging people without getting to know them first. In addition, Mr. Kelada seems like a joyful person, who doesn't really care what other people think about him and I appreciate this trait.

At the end of the year, I have a bagrut exam of Bible. The students were told by the Ministry of Education to study on our own with the help of a forum, this forum is specially designed which is extra learning for pupils. However, we don’t learn for this exam in a regular school with a teacher in class. Would I like to join this forum and study on line?

In my opinion, distance learning is very effective for many reasons. First, all students can benefit from distance learning because each student can progress at his own pace. Compared to regular school which all students progress at the same pace and level, but in this forum each one learn on his  own. In addition, it is very convenient and available. You can learn your studies in any time and place you want. You are not told by your school for regular hours to study.

Furthermore, distance learning is expand your horizons. You can learn extra study, its reinforce you. When you know more information than what you need, it just can help you. Another point is that In the forum you can ask the teachers questions and get help on line. It's also allows pupils to contact and assist each other.

To conclude, I think that I would join to this forum and learn the study with my own and if i will need some help, im sure the teachers will help me. I think I can benefit from this distance learning and I strongly recommend you to join it too! I wish to see you there next time.

There are a lot of things which are done by people in their free time. Some people go out with friends, while others read books or magazines and some just stay at home (and) watch T.V or sleep. Let's not forget that some people join a volunteering program and do something for othres, such as giving a hand in ambulances or spending time with elderly people.

People who join a volunteering program(s) and help  the community get a great  feeling  for making others feel better. When I help someone and make him smile, it makes my day and I have a wonderful feeling about my self. In addition, when you help somebody, in the future you will be helped by someone else, because this is the life(phr.) - explain this last point better.

furthermore, there are some people in this world who need help, treatment, support and love. They need someone who cares about them. When you (are) their(sp.) for them, they feel good and special. I'm sure they really respeact(sp.) and thanks(מיותר) you. You can orginazed(gr.) your schedule, and than you will have time to do something for othres(sp.) and also you(ww. - have)  enough time for your self.

To conclude, I think people should contribute part of their time for the community. Remember, when you do something for somebody else everybody wins . So, I hope to see you next time in a volunteering program. I strongly believe that it will make a difference.

The different Ways of Learning in School

In the far future, there will be a different way of learning in school. Today, pupils have a special building and there they study together with teachers, who are human. In the future, each one of the students will have a mechanical teacher for himself and he will study at home.

In my opinion, the way the students learn today is the right way to learn in school. They have regular hours they go to school. Their teachers are human, and because of that they crieate(sp.) human relations and learn values, like respect ,giving and sharing, team work and more. They meet  their classmates everyday and make friends.

In addition, the teachers teach them the same things and give them the same homework. Because of that, they can do homework and practice for tests together. However, in the future, pupils might study alone with their mechanical teacher. It will be easier and more convenient than today(how so?), but they will miss all the fun and the advantages of learning at a usual school.

To summarize, before you dream about the
mechanical teacher, think about the good things we have today like, meeting with our friends everyday, studying together and learning from many human teachers.

Excellent.

Is Downloading Music for free from internet moral ?

Music is a thing which everybody loves; most of people listen to it every day.
They need to download music from the internet, for listening(gr. - in order to listen) to songs they love. However, there are people who buy CDs of the songs they love. There is a question- is downloading music for free moral? Some claim that it is like a crime or theft, while others think that when we copy music, it is(gr. - does) not really hurt the singers.

I think downloading music for free from the internet is not illegal(it actually is illegal). I believe that the singers become more and more popular when we load their songs and listen to them and know them so well. So, I can't understand why it is wrong, it just help(gr.) them.
in addition, when the singers are popular they make(ww.) many concerts and pepole who like them buy tickets to(ww. - for) their show. it is livelihood for the singers(phr.).

Anther point is that buying CDs is very expensive. Many people don't have a lot of money so they can't afford to spend all their money for listening(ww.) to music they love. Furthermore, when someone loves songs of more than one singer, he needs to buy all their CDs. It is a lot of money.

In conclusion, as I see it, downloading music from the internet is a good thing. All of us can listen to the songs we love without pay(ing) money for it. In addition, it even help(gr.) the singers become more popular.

Better. Good work.
